Stepping foot onto the picturesque island of Okinawa, Japan, I found myself immersed in the vibrant culture and rich history of Naha, the capital city. From ancient landmarks to bustling shopping streets, my journey through Naha was a captivating blend of tradition and modernity, leaving an indelible mark on my travel memories.

As I wandered through the narrow streets of Naha, I couldn’t help but be enchanted by the city’s deep-rooted history. Naha boasts a storied past, evident in its well-preserved historical sites and landmarks. The Shurijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stood majestically atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the city below. Walking through the castle’s ornate gates and sprawling gardens, I felt transported back in time, imagining the days when it served as the royal residence of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

One of the highlights of my visit to Naha was exploring its vibrant shopping scene. Kokusai Dori, or International Street, emerged as the heart of Naha’s shopping district, teeming with an array of shops, boutiques, and street vendors. From colourful textiles and handcrafted pottery to delectable local delicacies, Kokusai Dori offered a treasure trove of goods waiting to be discovered.
