Staying at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

I am not sure how many times we passed through Singapore, but it is safe to say that we were there at least six times during that year. I finally got my wish to stay at the Marina Bay Sands for a couple of nights. I mean, you have to experience the famous rooftop infinity swimming pool at least once, don’t you?

We arrived at the hotel straight from the Chiangi Airport which in itself is a destination (but more about it another time) by taking the subway. Indeed, you can take the subway to the station located right in the basement of this hotel. It was late afternoon so we checked in right away. The reception staff who handled our passports noticed that my birthday was the next day so she offered us a free upgrade to the Club floor Premier Room.

The room was impeccable, close 500 square feet suite with a massive bathroom which included a soaking tub and shower. Plus complimentary Nespresso and minibar all with stunning city views from the 38th floor. After a shower, we unpacked and went for a quick dinner downstairs and later on stopped by outside of the hotel to watch the Garden Rhapsody, a popular light and sound show at Supertree Grove (see the post). Singapore Gardens by the Bay Light Show is truly something you should not miss when you are in town. We got tickets to get upstairs to OCBC Skyway, as the 128-meter-long aerial walkway nested among the Supertrees (see the video).

After returning to the room around 9 pm, we noticed other benefits of staying on the Club floor. Our room was cleaned, towels changed, Nespresso pods refilled and the bed was prepared for us to turn in for the night with the hotel sleepers placed by the bedside. And that happened each time we left the room with different things arranged for us depending on the time of the day.

Since it was still pretty early we changed into swimwear, put on the bathrobes and headed out to the rooftop pool, because when it is 35C outside at 9 pm it’s a perfect time for a swim and to watch the city by night. Let’s just say we stayed in the pool until it was closed for the night. When we got back to the room there was a platter with chocolates waiting for us wishing us a good night. I was convinced someone lived in the walls and as soon as we leave the room, they jump in to get things set up in anticipation of our future needs…

Of course the rest of the stay, we were poolside because how can you not enjoy this marvel of design and technology at the same? The views never get boring from the rooftop.
